Convert your Smart phone into a Wireless Router

Merry Xmas to All...

Okie, so here I am, to fulfill the promise that I made two articles back. I talked about converting your smart phone into a wireless router, so that you can use your mobile internet and share it on your laptop or tablet or even on other phone. So now if you are on move, you don’t have to worry. Simply set your mobile phone in a way that it works like a wireless router and use this to connect to the internet on any of your other devices. The only requirement is that your phone has to be having the Android 2.3 or later version OS or iPhone 4 or later. Menu name and screen may differ with different versions but you should find similar options to activate this. So are you ready to set this up?

iTunes – What’s so special about it?

Apple has launched iTunes in India last week, almost after 10 years of its launch in the US. So what can you get from iTunes? Why has Apple taken so much time to launch this service in India? What’s so special about it? And it has launched it in India after countries like Sri Lanka, Singapore, Thailand, etc. These are the few questions that you might be having in your mind. So let me try to answer them one by one.

What for whom

As we are going ahead in this fast moving gadget world, we are almost getting one new gadget per month. Every time any new gadget gets launched, we feel that it is perfect for my use and I should buy it. If you don’t feel this then there’s definitely something wrong with the marketing of that gadget. So I thought of writing this article so that it can help you in your decision making for the new gadget that you buy. In this article I will not talk about any particular brand or device but I have grouped the devices in more generic terms like smart phones, tablet, laptop, etc and I’ve categorized users, based on the requirements for gadget. So while you continue reading this article, try to recollect your requirements.

Windows 8 – All In One

Microsoft is in the mood of creating completely new things and closing the older strings. First they closed hotmail and created one of the most beautiful web mail called outlook.com. Now they have launched Windows 8, which they’ve built from scratch. No signs of any of it predecessor OS versions. What Microsoft has tried in Windows 8 is a common OS for all devices, be it your mobile phone tablet laptop or desktop. Windows 8 has been created keeping in mind the touch screen and various sizes of display. If Microsoft can really achieve this then it will be a great help to people like us who work on different devices as per our needs. If the same OS is installed across devices then connecting them would be hassle free. Also it will be very user friendly since you will see the same screen on all devices. But I am not sure how far can Microsoft go on this. Only time will tell.
So let’s see what is there in Windows 8 that is not there in earlier Windows versions.

Google Nexus 7 – Simply the Best

This is the second article I am writing on Google Nexus 7. That shows how much I am in love with this device. My earlier post is more of comparison between similar tablets. But this one is completely dedicated to Google Nexus 7. One thing I should admit that Google + ASUS has pulled out absolute gem of device. Many are feeling that the success of Google Nexus 7 is because of its price, but if you ask me it is a lesser point about Nexus 7’s success. The entire package is great and not just the price. So let’s go and check out Nexus 7 hands on.

Google has rolled out its free SMS service in India in last week. Yah, it is completely free and easy to use service from Google. So what Google or Gmail is offering? So if he goes offline line on chat still you can send him message on his cell phone. And if he replied to that SMS then you will receive that message in chat window. It cannot be simpler then this. Let’s talk about it more…

iOS 6 – Upgrade or Downgrade (It's evolution rather than revolution)

I was eagerly waiting for iOS 6 upgrade on my iPhone. It has come just 3 days after new iPhone 5 release and I immediately upgraded (??) my iPhone 4S with iOS 6. I was about to write about it immediately after the up grade was done but decided against it. I decided to wait till I had gone through all the changes and new features of iOS 6. This is the one of the things that Apple talked about as their landmark success in this year. So is it a really landmark success for Apple? Can iOS 6 alone give Apple what they lack in iPhone 5? Is there any break through feature in iOS 6? Let’s discuss it in details.

Is Apple going Microsoft WAY!!!

I was searching for something about Google on Google and saw this link and the first thought that struck my mind was, Is Apple going Microsoft way???  It is typical of Microsoft where they release any product without fully testing it in all possible situations and then start releasing service packs. Recent example of this is the bug in Internet Explorer (to know more about this bug you can read this click here).

Convert your normal speakers into Bluetooth speakers

My wife loves to listen to music in the kitchen while cooking. But she insists that we do not spend more money on buying another music system when we have plenty of gadgets that can do the job.  So I started thinking about what is the best way to go about this task. (A wife’s wish is always a task for the husband ;)) The simplest option was to play music on cell phone or iTouch with speaker mode ON. But considering the noise level in the kitchen, this definitely was not a good option.

Bose® - The music Boss

Last week I was out of station and while driving back I was eagerly waiting to listen to my new gadget which was delivered when I was out. Yes I was waiting to hear… And it is nothing but new Bose® Bluetooth speaker. In my previous post I explained how to convert normal speaker into Bluetooth speakers. But when I saw this Bose® SoundLink™ mobile speaker I could not resist myself from buying it.

It’s not bug…. Its Bugg…

This is a recent cute little addition to my gadget collection. It’s called Bugg. JBL Bugg. It’s a portable speaker. It is so compact and cute that I could not resist myself from buying it. It is so portable that you can carry it in your pocket as well. It has 3.5 mm audio pin, so you can connect it to any device offering 3.5 mm audio jack such as laptop, most of the recent phones, most of the tablet PC, etc. you cannot expect great voice quality from this cute little speaker, but what it delivers is definitely amazing.

Go Green with Kindle – eBook Reader

This gadget was in my mind for review since I started my blog, but somehow I not able to write about it. But now it is right time to write about it since Amazon has finally launched it in India.  Amazon has launched just basic model of kindle in India. The one that I’m using, Kindle Touch is still not available in the Indian market. Feature wise both models are identical, only difference is that Kindle Touch has touch screen and stereo speakers. The review that I’m writing here is based on my experience of Kindle Touch.

So what is this eBook reader all about? In simple words, you can read your favourite books or periodicals on the gadget that is more or less like tablet computer.

Lovable outlook.com from Microsoft

Gmail has become synonyms with webmail since it started and after that people forgot that any other webmail providers even existed. And it appeared as if Gmail is only choice left in market for webmail till Microsoft launched one of their best innovations called outlook.com. Don’t confuse, it is not MS Outlook, it is outlook.com. A fresh look to the earlier webmail solution called hotmail. Do you remember hotamail.com? Yep! You are right, Sabeer Bhatia’s hotmail. But outlook.com is not just an upgrade of hotmail.com but it is a real solution for today’s demand of online mailing solution in all. It has got many more features than Gmail but lacks some as well. So here are few points where outlook.com scores over Gmail.

Looking For Budget Tablet… here is the answer

It’s the dream of every manufacturer that whatever is produced should get sold out in the first week of production  or that people are waiting in a long queue even before your  shop opens to buy things from your shop. I’ve seen this happen at Barbeque Nation Resto bar where people wait even before it opens to get a seat. Some thing similar happened with the newly launched Google Nexus 7 tablet. The first production lot got sold out in first week itself!
So is it something life changing that Google has produced? It’s a normal tablet PC. There are so many of them already in the market then what is so special about it? Is it the magic of marketing? What is that attracting people so much?

The iPhone 4S

The flight lands at Mumbai International airport. I am anxiously waiting to receive my ………… what are you thinking? My girl friend?? Wife?? It was none other than my latest and most loved phone – The iPhone 4s. My friend bought it from the USA…. As its little cheap there….

I know it’s too late to review as there are rumors that Apple is on the verge of replacing it but no confirmation for the same. So I couldn't resist myself. I decided to write a review of iPhone 4S on the 4S itself.
